the online live music gig guide for birmingham & the midlands

Whats on at Pokey Hole Blues Club

The Pokey Hole ran for around a year at the end of the Sixties as a meeting place run by Blues lovers for Blues fans. While not as well known as Birmingham's Henrys or Mothers in Erdington, it secured its own little niche in history when blues/rock band Earth changed their name and played their new number 'Black Sabbath' on stage for the very first time. Phil Smith, (who had a major part in the formation of Fleetwood Mac) and Norman Hood (ex-Judas Priest management) now run The Old Pokey Hole, blues based but open to all musical genres and with the accent on fun.
